Shaws began life as a butchers shop in the Borders town of Lauder, which was a finialist in the search for Britain's Best Butcher 2008. The business was founded in 1828 and has been passed down through generations of the Shaws and subsequently the Deans families.
We have always stuck true to our roots; procuring the best possible produce which we then skillfully butcher to offer our customers the best quality products.

Butlers Steak, or Iron Steak, is a cut from the shoulder of the beast. Difficult to prepare, it is very full flavoured with a meaty bite. The steak can be pan seared as normal or slow cooked to give a meltingly tender stew or casserole. Becoming increasingly popular on restaurant menus, this is certainly an unconventional steak which must be tried. Our beef is sourced from prime grass fed cattle from trusted local farms in the Scottish Borders and is matured on the bone in our dedicated maturing facilities. Butlers Steaks are available in packs of 2 and 4. Each steak weighs approximately 250g.
