Phantassie is based on the edge of East Linton in rural East Lothian, just 25 miles from Edinburgh. The original growing area of Phantassie walled garden is a one acre, sheltered patch which has been in use for over 150 years. Gradually we’ve also cultivated another 5 acres.
Our two large polytunnels and glasshouse enable us to extend the growing seasons and provide a variety of vegetables all year round.
We grow using natural compost and manure, comfrey and seaweed; using crop rotation, green manuring and companion planting to aid the strength and fertility of the soil. We use absolutely no chemical sprays, fertilisers or pesticides. We are Organic growers and the farm is fully certified BDAA Organic Standard GB6

A member of the cabbage family, kale comes in two forms: kale, which has smooth leaves, and curly kale, which has crinkly leaves. Curly kale is the most common of the two.
Instead of forming a head, the leaves grow in a loose rosette at the top of a stem. The leaves are green, sometimes tinged with blue or purple, and their flavour is strong and distinct.
